);\">\u00a0a suitable location for the research area (the grid) during the first reconnaissance survey, and the other two teams had a lower<\/span><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: 0px; background-color: var( --e-global-color-c696dce );\">\u00a0nest encounter rate during the first reconnaissance and other areas to identify locations reporting higher bonobo activity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p>Working in the forest can be very challenging, teams need to walk through swampy areas or cross <span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: 0px; background-color: var( --e-global-color-c696dce );\">dense fern vegetation<\/span><span style=\"font-style: inherit; font-weight: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); letter-spacing: 0px; background-color: var( --e-global-color-c696dce );\">\u00a0that commonly follows forest disturbance as seco<\/span><span
